EMPLOYER SERVICES COORINATOR


Organizational Missions and Operating Principles

Twin Cities RISE! (TCR!) is an adult workskills development organization designed to address the concentration of poverty in communities of color by helping individuals develop marketable and transferable employment skills, leading to a skilled job at a livable wage over $20,000 annually plus benefits. TCR!’s work is guided by eleven core operating principles:

5. The program balances the needs and interests of customer companies and prospective TCR! participants who are ready for placement.

7. TCR! trusts participants to make decisions regarding their own progress based on feedback from coaches, instructors, and staff.
8. TCR! practices performance-based assessment.
9. TCR! creates value for all key stakeholders: participants, employers, and the community.
10. TCR! only places participants in settings that are conducive to their growth, development, and success.
11. TCR! models an inclusive workplace where everyone is valued and there is desire for everyone’s success.

All TCR! staff are expected to adhere to these principles in work with other staff, customers, participants, and other key stakeholders.

Job Profile and Reporting Relationships

The Employer Services Coordinator is a key player on the Twin Cities RISE! Employer Services team. The Employer Services Coordinator is responsible for:

1. Assisting TCR! participants in seeking and acquiring employment during the program and identifying career positions that meet final placement criteria.

2. Together with the Director of Employer Services, establish and maintain relationships with companies that will be actively interested in hiring TCR! participants.

3. Collaborate with the Director of Employer Services to develop, implement and monitor the work experience/internship program for participants. Internship opportunities must provide work experience which is appropriate to the career track of the participant and therefore will support the goal of final placement.

4. Job development: Identify opportunities and develop job employment resources through fostering partnerships with employers, placement agencies and staffing services to help with the hiring of participants.

The Employer Services Coordinator reports to the Director of Employer Services and will work closely with coaches and other program staff.

Job Responsibilities

1. Establish a system to consistently review various employment or employer websites to identify potential opportunities for participants. Leads must match the skill set, experience level and career path of ready participants.

2. Maintain a database of employment opportunities that is current, accurate and easily accessible by participants and TCR! staff. The Employer Services Resource folders and Job Boards must be maintained in a timely fashion with job leads which fit final placement criteria and the career path of participants.

3. Maintain current knowledge of program participants’ previous work experience, job readiness, employment needs as well as interests and match them with employment opportunities.

4. In collaboration with assigned Employment Coach assess participant’s readiness level and create and implement a specific and measurable job strategy which will result in final placement. Monitor implementation and measure outcomes to determine with Employment Coach if the strategy is being followed or what adjustments need to be made to move toward a final placement career position.

5. ESC will support participant by providing one-on-one training on effective interview techniques and conduct other job seeking training as necessary to prepare participant for job searching and interviewing.

6. Teach and assist participant to identify areas of improvement, tailor/modify resume using key words and other tools to effectively utilize their resume for job search.

7. Attend all Final Placement meetings. During Final Placement meetings, provide regular job development reports that detail current job strategies and communicate any concerns which may impede final placement of participant(s). Concerns must be communicated in a timely manner and be solutions based.

8. ESC will identify job matches for ready participants on customer and or other websites or advertised employment postings. ESC will prepare effective marketing letters to customers and or other employers and follow through with appropriate professional communication.

9. ESC to coordinate participant interviews with customers and to effectively communicate interview details to participant and coach. ESC to provide specific interview preparation for all customer interviews and other interviews as needed.

10. Instruct classes as assigned.

11. Prioritize all daily activities and utilize time management methods to track all activities.

12. Assist with all employer services systems at Twin Cities RISE! as needed or assigned.

Qualifications:

The successful Employer Services Coordinator will possess:
• excellent oral, verbal and written communication skills
• ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently
• an empowered approach to resolving issues or problems in a creative manner
• demonstrate a high level of integrity and take personal accountability for assigned duties
• proven follow through and demonstrated project management skills
• demonstrated sense of urgency in a fast paced, change driven environment
• the ability to meet activity quotas and stringent deadlines
• proven ability to successfully market program services and participants to potential employers.
• assist individuals with career development, job networking, and placement; developing partnerships with employers, employment services, and other agencies to facilitate placements; maintaining records & statistical reports of employment activities; utilizing marketing concepts to develop promotional strategies, media events, job fairs; assisting with resume preparation, interviewing techniques, career searches, etc.

The individual will have previous experience in recruiting or sales/marketing for a staffing firm. Proficient in working in a collaborative, empowered manner in preparing individuals to enter career positions, including, but not limited to: developing and implementing job strategies, identifying transferable skills, development of a professional cover letter and resume, interview preparation, etc. The ideal candidate will be high energy, enthusiastic and will have demonstrated organizational skills, flexibility, empathy, and commitment. Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, report writing, and internet.
